Dye ink
In dye inks, the dyes are physically dissolved in the respective medium (like sugar in water). This offers the advantage of easy ink production, since the dye only has to be stirred into the medium.
In addition, dyes cannot sediment, i.e. they cannot settle. A disadvantage of dye-based inks, however, is their usually low lightfastness as well as their low fastness to chemicals.
As the printer owner, you have little influence on the ink used. Once you have purchased your printer, you should use the ink specified by the printer manufacturer. Using the wrong ink can cause the printer or print head to malfunction.
