Pay attention to the cartridge content!
You also have to watch out for original consumables from time to time. For example, there is a BJI-201 and a BJI-201HC, the latter containing much more ink. This becomes clear when you see both cartridges next to each other.
HP also has something like this. Cartridges ending with AE have twice the amount of ink as G cartridges. At least it is stated on the package, but if you don't know that, some bargains turn out to be expensive purchases.
One opinion we often hear from end customers about refilled cartridges is that in refill stores ink cartridges or toner cartridges are not made completely full. And thus the price savings compared to buying an original cartridge is put into perspective.
It may well be that there are refillers who believe that this will generate higher profits. But the fact is that the amount of material used (refill ink and refill toner) for refilling is so low compared to the refill price paid by the customer that it is not worthwhile for any refiller to cheat its customers in this way. In refill stores or ink filling stations, the customer primarily pays for the work of refilling. And no refiller can really save on this. Unless he uses refill machines that are only worthwhile at a relatively high throughput due to the high acquisition costs and thus high depreciation amounts.
We suspect that the opinion is rather due to another circumstance.
Some ink cartridges have a sponge inside. If these ink cartridges are filled several times, it can happen that these sponges gum up. In a hardened state, the sponges absorb less ink. The refiller therefore has only two options.
He can fill the ink cartridge, but does not get the full filling quantity.
He changes the sponge of the cartridge. The original filling quantity can then be achieved again.
All in all, it can be said that the majority of cartridges that are filled in the refill store or in the ink filling station are fuller than the original manufacturer intended. This is due to the fact that the manufacturer sees no value in making ink cartridges full to the brim. (Example: HP 363 ink cartridge and Epson T0711 to T0714).
