Which invisible printer inks are available and in which Epson or Brother printer they can be used?

Made by Octopus Fluids® we have six different invisible printer inks available. Their colors are invisible white, invisible blue, invisible red, invisible yellow and invisible light blue plus invisible light red. The term invisible in that case stand for that prints on plain white paper using these inks are not visble during normal daylight. The colors of these inks appear when the print is exposed to an UV light source.
The appearance of the inks in the ink bottles is white to light yellowish. Please store the invisible inks in a dark environment and keep them on room temperature level. This ensures to maximize the inks´ life span and preserve the fluorescence characteristics.

From both manufacturers Epson and Brother there are inkjet printer models available that work with four inkjet cartridges. For these desktop printer models You need to have the invisible printer ink colors white, blue. red and yellow.
The unsual is that the invisible white ink is meant to wotk in the printer´s black cartridge. The remaining colors belong into the respective cartridge according to their color.

You can also use the unvisible printer inks in a 6-color-printer by Epson. Maybe You have such a device already at home or in your office. For this kind of epson printers it is necessary to work with two additional colors of the invisible printer inks as it is compulsory to have a filled cartridge in each cartridge slot. The additional colors are light blue and light red, or also named as photo blue and photo red. The print result with these six invisible inks is not that much different from the for color print but as explained before You need to have (invisible) ink in all cartrides in the six cartridge Epson printer.

Which inkjet printer is suitable to print with invisible printer inks?

The first requirement for the inkjet printer to be suitable for invisible inks made by Octopus Fluids® is to work with a piezo print head. This kind of print head technology creates pressure within the print head´s ink chamber by altering the volume of the piezo element to shoot the ink drop out of the print head´s nozzles. With that technology approach no heat is created and the ink drop is formed at low temperature. This is very important as the invisible inks are sensitive towards heat due to their used ingredients. Common desktop inkjet printers using piezo print head technology are made by Epson and Brother.

We recommend to opt for a inkjet printer that uses single ink tank cartridges without a sponge to store the inks inside the cartridges. Sponge material would hold partially back ink particles that are important for the prints´ fluorescence.
Beside that the print head should be located in the printer device itsself and not be integrated into inkjet cartridge.

With the suitable Epson and Brother printers there are two solutions how and where the inkjet cartridges are installed in the printer in relation to the print head. The Brother printers relevant for the invisible inks mainly have their inkjet cartridges installed in a cartridge compartment separately from the print head. In that case the cartridges are connected to the print head by flexible tubes.
At the Epson printers the place to install the inkjet cartridges is located in the print head compartement directly above the print head itsself.
Our choice to work with would be an Epson printer as the way from the cartridges to nozzles is shorter in comparison to a Brother printer. That means You need less invisible ink to fill the printer´s ink system. And it the preparation of the printer to start printing with invisible inks also requires less time in that case.
