Instruction for refilling Brother LC-1240, LC-1280 XL Fill In cartridges
These cartridges are characterized by a very simple refilling. They are especially designed for people, who have to print a lot and who want to refill their cartridges for a low price. Please read this instruction carefully first and start refilling afterwards.
Preparation for filling
For refilling the cartridge, you need the following tools:
- an absorbent underlay
- 80 ml of black ink
- 70 ml of each colored ink (cyan, magenta, yellow)
- 4 ink syringes with needles
Take the ink syringes and attach the needles. Now you have to draw up the ink with the ink syringes. As you can fill in a lot of ink into the cartridge, you have to draw up the syringes a few times. After that you can put the syringes aside. Put the cartridge on the table (picture 1) and remove the closing plug (as shown in picture 2).

Post processing of the Brother LC-1240, LC-1280 Fill In cartridges
Before you put the cartridges into the printer, you have to release the aeration plug (picture 4) and replace it with the provided air filter (picture 5). This filter is important for the pressure balance while printing, so there is no underpressure. Please see that the fine fabric is not wetted with ink, because it may happen, that the pressure balance is no longer stable.
Since the cartridges are too big to close the cover of the cartridge panel, the printer will continue to signalize that the panel is still open. Therefore, you will find, included in delivery, a plastic flank, which simulates a closed panel (picture 6). Put the flank into the same opening where the valve of the cover grips. Thus the sensor is manipulated, so it registers the panel as closed. Subsequently, you can insert the refilled cartridges into the printer.
