Refill instruction for cartridges Brother LC-1100, LC-980, LC-985 color, black
The cartridges Brother LC-1100, LC-980, LC-985 are easy to refill. The fill level control of the printer works with a mechanic lever inside the cartridge. This lever makes it easy to refill it and shows the correct fill level afterwards. For refilling you need a cutter, a small drill, some tape, hot glue, needle, syringe and 20 ml of black or 10 ml of colored ink (each).
For refilling cartridge Brother LC-1100, LC-980, LC-985 follow the instructions below:
1. At first, you have to take off the movable front part of the cartridge. For that purpose, you can take the screwdriver, lead it into the guide rails (see pict. 1) and unlock the front part. You can take off the front part of the cartridge with some light lever movements.
Attention: There are two springs installed which could slip out easily.
2. Put the cartridge upright in front of you and cut the side label with the cutter (see pict. 2)
3. Lead the cutter in the upper part inbetween the two body halves (about 0.5 cm, see pict. 3). Pry apart the two body halves and cut the holding clips carefully (pict. 4, plastic, same color as body).
4. Pull the halves apart. The actual ink tank is inside of the cartride Brother LC-1100, LC-980, LC-985.
5. Drill a hole into the marked spot. The drilled hole should not be greater than 2 mm in diameter (pict. 5). You should not drill on any spot, otherwise, there could be problems with closing the body halves through the hot glue.
6. Lead the needle into the ink tank carefully and fill the cartridge. (pict. 6)
Attention…please do not pierce the foil!!!
7. Close the filler opening with a drop of hot glue after refilling. Put the body halves back together and secure the side seam with a piece of tape. The cartridge is now refilled and you can put it back into your printer.
