How to refill Canon® PGI-570 and CLI-571 inkjet cartridges by using the professional refill tool FILL BILL Focus
There is a suitable FILL BILL Focus refill tool available for inkjet cartridge series Canon® PGI-570, CLI-571. This professional tools works by the so called vacuum method. Refilling these cartridges by vacuum is clean, fast and provides the professional impression when refilling in front of a customer.
Empty Canon® PGI-570 XL and CLI-571 XL can be filled with the right XL amount of refill ink. The vacuum method saturates the sponge located in the ink chamber above the ink port and also brings refill ink to the rear ink tank, which is difficult to have access to. You do not need to drill any additional opening.
The FILL BILL´s version suitable for Canon® inkjet cartridges PGI-570, CLI-571 has been adjusted to the cartridges height and the shape of the ink port exactly. The tools for sealing the ink port and filling the ink we have named Fill Cuffs. They are made of durable, solid brass material and their rubber pads are laser cut to match the ink ports on PGI-570, CLI-571 cartridges perfectly.
Choose the right size of the Fill Cuff according to the type of cartridge which You are going to refill. We recommend to clean the Fill Cuffs after use, just rinse them with water. Over the time there will remain some marks of the refill ink on the Fill Cuffs material. So it is easy to differentiate which Cuff to use for which color of CLI-571. Long story short - to be safe You should always use the same Fill Cuff for the same refill ink color.
The holder for the Fill Cuffs is located on the FILL BILL´s clamp. The Cuff is pushed into the opening in the aluminium bar starting with the Luer Lock connector. Push the cuff in to make it flsh with the holder. The opening in the holder has a mechanism inside that fixes the Fill Cuff in its position. You do not need any additional tool install or change the Fill Cuffs. That comes in very handy when refilling different colors of CLI-571 inkjet cartridges - You can switch the Fill cuffs really quick.
The empty Canon® PGI-570 or CLI-571 inkjet cartridge is placed with its upper side on the black sealing pad, which is installed on the FILL BILL´s base. The cartridge stop provides some guidance in which area the cartridge has to be positioned. Lower the Fill Cuff towards the ink port on the cartridge by pressing on the clamp´s lever slowly. You should check continously that the ink port and the rubber pad meet exactly. The clamp locks when you push down the blue lever at the end. This seals the empty Canon® PGI-570 or CLI-571 air tight by pressing the upper side on the black rubber pad and the Fill Cuff sealing the ink port.
Now it is time to load the Luer Lock refill syringe with the right amount of refill ink. As we demonstrate the refilling of an empty CLI-571 XL magenta cartridge in our tutorial we take 11 ml of suitable refill ink into our syringe. Then the syringe is mounted on the Fill Cuff.
Pull up the refill syringe´s plunger carefully. As the cartridge is sealed airtight inside the FILL BILL refill tool this extracts air from inside the Canon® PGI-570, CLI-571 cartridge and creates a vacuum instead.
Release the plunger from the upper position. The negative pressure sucks the refill ink from the syringe into the inkjet cartridge. You do no need to push on the plunger, it slides back into the syringe´s body by itself. Repeat that process a couple of times: Pull the plunger out, air is extracted, let the plunger go, ink will be sucked into the cartridge.
The cartridge is fully filled when no more refill ink flows in. There always remains some residual ink inside the sponge of an empty inkjet cartridge Canon® PGI-570 or CLI-571. Due to that it might be not possible to fill the full amount of refill ink from the syringe. A good opportuity to check on the cartridge, if it is really fully filled, is to measure its weight. Compare the weight of Your refilled cartridge to the full weight of an original cartridge. Your refilled inkjet´s weight should be close to the original full weight.
