This instruction demonstrates the refill of an empty Canon PGI-570 inkjet cartridge. The shown mehtod does not require any drilling or other modifications on the cartridge. We use a simple pipet, black pigmented refill ink made by Octopus Fluids® and small piece of kitchen towel. This instruction can by also applied for Canon CLI-571 cartridges.
Please make sure to work with sufficient protection against little drops of inks.
The refill ink is dripped directly onto the sponge that can be seen inside the ink port opening on the cartridge´s bottom side. This method just fills the sponge with refill ink, it cannot refill the rear inks tanks as the exist in the XL yield cartridges of PGI-570 and CLI-571.
According to our testing experience You can refill 3ml to 5 ml by dripping.
Please remove the cartrige´s label from the upper side. This makes sure that the air port located below that label is always free. The air port is necessary for letting air into the cartridge when ink is consumed while printing. The cartridge can not work properly inisde Your Canon printer when the air port or the channel below the label is blocked by ink.
Place Your cartridge on a pirce of paper towel or somethng similar. This protection will soak up any excess ink and indicated when the sponge is saturated.
Take some refill ink into a syringe or pipet. Then drip the refill ink slowly and carefully onto the sponge material that can be seen in the ink port opening. Keep an eye on the towel laying below the cartridge. When the sponge is saturated with refill ink the excess ink will come out of the air port of the PGI-570, CLI-571. Stop dripping when You see the signs of ink absorbed by the paper towel. Make sure to clean Your cartridge firmly at the end.
Your inkjet cartridge is refilled and ready for beeing used again inside Your printer. For printing with a refilled, original Canon PGI-570, CLI-571 You need to deactivate the ink level information for that specific cartridge. Usually You have to confirm a couple of times that You really would like to proceed printing with this cartridge.
