Preparation:
You need the following supplies:
- an absorbent underlay (e.g. paper towel)
- 5 syringes with needles
- 15ml of black ink for PGI-520
- 7ml of ink each for CLI-521 (black, cyan, magenta, yellow)
Protect your workplace against staining by laying paper towel on an ink-repellent underlay (e.g. oilcloth).
Put the needles on the syringes and draw in the amounts of ink indicated above. The large black cartridge is filled with 19ml of ink, the small refillable cartridges can hold approx. 9ml of ink. Attention: These amounts apply for completely empty cartridges! Put the prepared syringes aside.
Insert the refillable Canon PGI-520, CLI-521 cartridge into the orange storage clip included in the delivery. Place the cartridge in front of you and remove the coloured sealing plug shown in picture 1. Put it aside; you will need it again after refilling the cartridge.
Refilling the Canon PGI-520, CLI-521 refillable cartridges:
Insert the syringe into the cartridge (picture 2). Fill ink into the additional ink tank up to the upper edge. The sponge draws the ink from the additional tank. Refill it again when it is empty, and repeat this procedure until both the sponge and the additional ink tank are filled. Now close the filler opening with the sealing plug.
After refilling:
If you refill the cartridge for the first time, you have to remove the label at the front end of the cartridge (picture 3). It serves to balance the pressure inside the cartridge during the printing process.
These refillable cartridges are equipped with an auto reset chip which is reset automatically every time you remove the cartridge from your printer.
