Ink Refill Instructions for Canon CL 38, CL 41, CL 51, CL 52 color
Canon CL 41, CL 51 and CL 52 cartridges are used with the IP 1600 and IP 2200 printers. The Canon CL 38 cartridge is used for example in the IP 2500, MX 300/ MX 310. The CL41 and CL 51 cartridges differ in terms of capacity. The CL 52 cartridge is used in particular for photographs.
For refilling, proceed as follows:
Remove the Canon cartridge from the printer. Remove the label on the upper side with a knife. The filler openings are underneath this label. They have to be widened or punctured with a sharp object so that you can insert the needle more easily. See the pictures below for the arrangement of the colours.
Draw ink into the syringe:
CL 38 - each colour 3ml
CL 41 - each colour 4ml
CL 51 - each colour 7ml
CL 52 - each colour 7ml
Insert the needle into the filler opening. There are sponges inside the cartridge. Inject the ink slowly and carefully so that the sponge can soak it up. If ink leaks from the filler opening, draw back 1ml into the syringe. Be careful not to mix the colours.
Thoroughly clean the cartridge before reinserting it into the printer.
After inserting the cartridge into the printer, a message is shown telling you that the filling level can not be determined correctly. Confirm with "OK" and click on "Continue".
