Ink Refill Instructions Canon PG-510, PG-512
To refill the cartridges, you need:
- syringes with needles
- cutter knife
- 1.5mm drill
- approx. 9ml of ink for PG-510
- approx. 15ml of ink for PG-512
Refilling the cartridges:
Remove the cartridge to be refilled from your printer and place it on the table in front of you. There is a label on the upper side of the cartridge which has to be removed. For this purpose, carefully slip the cutter knife under the label and peel it off (picture 1). Then expand the now visible vent hole with the 1.5mm drill (picture 2) to form the filler opening. Insert the syringe slightly sideways into the sponge inside the Canon cartridge and fill in the appropriate amount of ink (picture 3). If ink leaks from the opening or the cartridge starts dripping, draw about 1ml of ink back into the syringe. Then put the label back in its original position or replace it with a new one. Parcel tape is suitable as well. Now the cartridge is ready for use and you can reinsert it into your printer.
Attention: Your printer will continue to signal that the cartridge is empty. In this case you have to disable the filling level display for this cartridge. You disable the display by pressing the "Continue" button on your monitor for 5 seconds.
Please observe the following general advice:
Never print until the cartridge is completely empty. It is better to fill in a little amount of ink once in a while to avoid the injectors drying out and plugging and maintain the sponge inside the cartridge supple. After refilling, let the cartridge with sponge rest on an absorbent underlay for approximately 15 minutes. Never insert a dripping cartridge into the printer! Clean the print head with distilled water at regular intervals.
