General information on the Canon chip resetter for PGI-5BK and CLI-8:
The chips installed on the Canon cartridges monitor the ink filling level. When the minimum level is reached, a message on the monitor warns that the respective cartridge is almost empty. At that point, you need to refill or replace the cartridge.
Resetting the chip:
Place the cartridge into the chip resetter as shown in the picture. When the LED on the cartridge blinks once, the cartridge is in the correct position. The cartridge is now being reprogrammed by the chip resetter. This takes approx. 6 seconds. The reset process is complete when the LED on the cartridge glows permanently. The cartridge can now be reinserted into the printer. If the cartridge is not reset the first time, repeat the process.
