Instruction for exchanging the original Canon PGI-525, CLI-526 chip for the auto reset chip
If you want to refill your cartridges yourself, you have to reset the filling level as well. You have two options: You can either buy a chip resetter for your cartridges with original chip and reset your cartridges as often as you want with this chip resetter. Or you can buy a set of auto reset chips. If you use these chips with your cartridges, you do not need a chip resetter, because these chips reset themselves automatically (auto reset). The following instructions tell you step by step how to exchange the original chip for the auto reset chip.
Take one of your cartridges and hold it as shown in picture 1. The chip is attached to the cartridge by means of two welding points. Sever the right-hand welding point (picture 2), then you can carefully remove the chip (picture 3).
Once the chip has been removed, you can position the auto reset chip in its place. As the new chip will not fit onto the welding point like the original chip, we recommend using a small strip of double-sided adhesive tape to fix the auto reset chip to the cartridge (picture 4).
Then you can place the small hole of the replacement chip over the remaining welding point (picture 5). If you have positioned the auto reset chip correctly, your cartridge should look like shown in picture 6.
