Instruction for resetting cartridges Epson T1281 – T1284 and T1291 - T1294
Epson cartridges are equipped with a chip which shows the current fill level. For that reason, you have to reset this chip after each filling. If you don´t do this, the cartridge signalizes your printer, that it´s empty and rejects its services.
To reset/back up, please follow the instructions below:
Take the Epson cartridge and the chip resetter (as shown in picture 1) in your hand. Bring the contact face of the cartridge chip close to the contact pins of the chip resetter (picture 2). You can find a small guide rail within your delivery. This guide rail will simplify the correct positioning of the chip on the resetter.
Press the cartridge lightly onto the chip resetter. You will feel a slight resistance, which is produced by the button on the chip resetter. When you have activated the resetting process by the pressure, the process of resetting starts. The cartridge will not be resetted until there is a certain pressure on the button. At first, the diode of the resetter will lighten up red (picture 3) and after about 2 to 3 seconds, it will glow green steadily (picture 4). The cartridge is now resetted and you can put it back into the printer.
Please mind that Epson cartridges with air sensors like T1281, T1282, T1283 and T1284 can only be resetted if the cartridge is not completely empty. One quarter or one third of the ink volume should stay inside the cartridge. If your cartridge is empty, this kind of resetting won´t work. Despite the varying formation of the contacts on the chip (5+2 contacts) towards the contacts (4+3), you can reset this cartridge run of Epson.
