The alternative, refillable as well as reusable ink cartridges have quite a number of advantageous features. On the cartridge top of each of these cartridges is the filler opening for the matching printer ink. The opening is closed with a plug and is opened for filling refill ink that fits Epson T9461, T9452-T9454 ink cartridges. Also on top there is another port - this one is for air venting the refillable cartridge.
Ink quantities of refillable cartridges as an alternative to T9461, T9452, T9453, T9454:
T9461 (black): 140 ml
T9452, T9453, T9454 (cyan, magenta, yellow): 40 ml
At the bottom of the cartridge is the ink outlet opening with integrated closing valve. This opening is used to transfer the ink from the Fill In cartridge to the Epson printer. As delivered, there is a foil over this outlet opening - the foil is pierced when the filled cartridge is inserted into the printer, the valve in the outlet is opened and in this way the ink flow is established. The foil is not removed because it holds the rubber seal located in the ink outlet.
Each of the alternative fill-in cartridges has a resettable ink chip. This chip displays the ink level for the cartridge used in the printer; it provides the information for the necessary, active ink level detection for printers with Epson T94 ink cartridges. Even before a warning message for a fill-in cartridge appears, the ink level status of this cartridge can be reset to FULL using the chip resetter of this chip. After a fill-in cartridge is reported to be empty, the ink level status of this cartridge can be reset to FULL using the chip resetter on this chip.
This is how the refillable ink cartridges as an alternative to Epson T94 are filled with the correct amount of printer ink.
The ink is taken directly from the bottle with the printer ink compatible with the Epson cartridge model T94. To do this, unscrew the cap of the bottle and unscrew the spray cap included in the delivery.
The aforementioned amount of suitable printer ink is filled into each of the refillable ink cartridges suitable for Epson T94.
Open the filling opening and remove the stopper - keep it safe, it will be needed again later for closing. Carefully insert the ink bottle with the screwed-on spray cap through the filling opening into the fill-in cartridge and carefully pour the refill ink into the ink tank. After filling in the ink, close the filling opening again with the stopper.
Installing the fill-in cartridge set in the Epson printer with Epson T94 ink cartridges
When inserting the refillable cartridges, remove the plug from the ventilation opening. The ventilation openings on the fill-in cartridges must be open during printing. Insert each of the refillable cartridges into the correct position in the cartridge compartment of the Epson printer. Make sure that the cartridges click firmly into place - this ensures that the ink outlet and the valve inside are opened correctly and that there is contact between the ink chip on the cartridge and the contact pins in the cartridge compartment.
If the complete set of fill-in cartridges is in the Epson printer, the cover in front of the cartridge compartment can be closed. The printer display will inform you that non-original consumables are installed in the printer instead of original Epson T94 ink cartridges. This is correct.
The use of the alternative, refillable cartridges must be confirmed. To do this, work through the steps listed on the display one after the other. As soon as the printer has finished processing, the message "Replacement completed" will appear, which refers to the ink cartridges. Each of the refillable, reusable printer cartridges is recognized and displayed with a full ink level bar.
How does the ink level display work with the alternative chip for Epson T94 ink cartridges?
As printing and ink consumption continue, more and more ink is deducted from the initially full level bar of the fill-in cartridges until the corresponding cartridge is marked with an exclamation mark on the bar - this mark indicates that this cartridge has a low ink level, and the ink in this cartridge will soon be used up.
Due to the alternative chip, the message "cartridge empty / ink used up" is displayed differently for the fill-in cartridges than for the original Epson T94 printer cartridges. The empty cartridge is displayed on the printer display with an empty level bar plus an exclamation mark and receives the message "ink cartridge not recognized".
Remove the fill-in cartridge from the printer before a warning message about a low ink level or an empty message appears and fill it with the appropriate refill ink. Put the filled cartridge back in the printer and confirm the use of this non-original cartridge material again on the display. After processing is complete, the Epson printer recognizes this cartridge again with a full ink level thanks to the reset chip and also displays a completely filled color bar.
