Refill Instructions for Epson Fill In cartridges 24 and 26
The video clip and instructions show how to refill and reinsert the cartridges into the printer. In the pictures we used alternate cartridges suitable for Epson 26 cartridge types. The Epson 26 cartridges are identical in construction and therefore can also be refilled following these instructions.
Construction type of Fill In cartridges
The cartridges suitable for Epson 24 respectively Epson 26 Ink cartridges are available in 2 different widths. Both the wide dual ink tank cartridge and the thin single tank cartridge each have a filler opening and vent hole at the upper side. The wide dual ink tank cartridge is a special construction in these Epson series. The ink chamber above the angular ink outlet is equipped with a sponge at the Fill In cartridges in opposition to the original cartridges. The dual ink tank cartridge has 2 angular ink outlets.
Refilling the Fill In cartridges
Before refilling you need to remove the sealing plug from the filler opening as well as the vent hole. Fill in the ink into the ink chamber below the filler opening. With the open vent hole the sponge can absorbe the ink faster. If necessary wait a moment until the sponge has absorbed the ink and continue refilling afterwards.
Recommended amounts of ink:
dual ink tank cartridge 20 ml
single ink tank cartridge 10 ml
Please reseal the filler opening and vent hole with the previously removed sealing plugs after you have refilled the cartridge. That will prevent the cartridge from dripping while you reinsert it into the printer.
Reinserting the cartridges into the printer
Remove the sealing plug from the ink outlet right before you insert the cartridge into the printer. Keep all sealing plugs safely you need them for the next refilling or transport of the cartridge.
Insert the cartridge into the provided place in the printer. Make sure that it clicks into place. Smooth pressure on the front part (picture in the middle) will make sure that the auto reset chip is in contact with the printer. Finally remove the sealing plug from the vent hole. Only with free ventilation you get the desired outcome.
Please use the complete set of Fill In cartridges in your printer.
Recognition of the new cartridges in the printer
After reinserting the complete set of Fill In cartridges into your printer you will get the message that you did not insert original cartridges. Press OK to continue. The next window informs you about the risks and the advantages that you miss when you are not using the original cartridges from Epson. Press OK to continue. Finally you can see the new cartridges with their ink filling level.
We recommend checking the ink filling level visually every now and then which is pretty easy because of the transparent ink chamber of the Fill In cartridges.
