The HP cartridges released in 2013 are not the largest HP InkJet cartridges but unique for their construction. They are used in printers of the new HP OfficeJet Pro X series. The size of the cartridges reveals already a little bit about their range of pages. Which is:
- HP 970 (CN 621 AE) = 3.000 pages/ISO black pigmented
- HP 970XL (CN 625 AE) = 9.200 pages/ISO black pigmented
- HP 971 (CN 622 AE) = 2.500 pages/ISO cyan pigmented
- HP 971XL (CN 626 AE) = 6.600 pages/ISO cyan pigmented
- HP 971 (CN 623 AE) = 2.500 pages/ISO magenta pigmented
- HP 971XL (CN 627 AE) = 6.600 pages/ISO magenta pigmented
- HP 971 (CN 624 AE) = 2.500 pages/ISO yellow pigmented
- HP 971XL (CN 628 AE) = 6.600 pages/ISO yellow pigmented
Up to 9.200 pages. This capacity is commendable. The real advantage in competition is their speed. Self-confident HP claims the printing speed is 70 pages per minute. That is faster than some laser printers. This speed is possible because of over 42.000 nozzles in the printer head. A special feature of this printer head is its width, which is exactly the one of a DIN A4 paper. As a result the printer head does not have to glide back and forth above the paper as in conventional InkJet printers, which is a reason for lower speed. In HP OfficeJet Pro X printers the wide printer head can fire pigmented ink on the total paper width in InkJet technique.
According to HP the printing costs with HP 970 and HP 971 cartridges are about 50% lower than the average costs with laser printers. The InkJet technology developes more and more in the direction of Office use, where until now only laser printers could keep up with capacity and page yield.
You can refill these cartridges with our QU-FILL tool with vacuum techique. The problems with the chip we still have to solve. But with difficulty the real fun starts for us.
We already told you about cartridge protection (see below).
