Problems with HP 363 cartridges C8719E, C8721E, C8771E, C8772E, C8773E, C8774E, C8775E
Just like with many other cartridges, the manufacturer of the HP 363 cartridge put a lot of thought into how to protect the print head from damage and make it more difficult to refill the cartridge.
For this purpose, the cartridge was equipped with a chip. This chip sends a signal to the printer when the cartridge is empty. If you refill the HP 363 cartridge and reinsert it into the printer, you will see the following messages:
- Original ink depleted
- No information on the filling level available
- Replace the cartridge or press "--> more information"
If you press --> for more information, your printer will inform you about the manufacturer's warranty. Confirm this message of the printer by pressing "OK", the printer returns to the normal display, and you can continue printing.
Attention!
The only difference is that a question mark appears on the display below the refilled cartridges, telling you that the printer will not notice if the cartridge is empty. This can be problematic because dry printing can damage your print head. The only way to protect the print head is to refill the cartridge in time. But how do you know when to refill the cartridge? Option 1: You can weigh the cartridges from time to time to see if it has reached its empty weight of 14g. Option 2: Watch for stripes on the printout; they indicate that the HP 363 cartridge is empty.
If you prefer a less complicated method, you can also buy an auto reset chip for HP 363 cartridges in our shop. The original chip on the HP 363 cartridge is replaced with this chip. The new chip resets itself automatically when the cartridge is removed from the printer. This way, you can immediately continue printing after refilling the cartridge.
Refill instructions for HP 363 cartridges C8719E, C8721E, C8771E, C8772E, C8773E, C8774E, C8775E
Refilling HP 363 cartridges is very simple.
You need the following supplies:
- 1 syringe
- 1 needle
- 1 underlay
- 1 ink
The coloured HP 363 cartridges - C8771E, C8772E, C8773E, C8774E, C8775E originally contain 5ml of ink. The black HP 363 cartridge - C8719E originally contains approx. 6ml.
Refilling HP 363 cartridges:
Hold the HP 363 cartridge as shown in picture 2. It is important that you hold it almost horizontally. The air has to be able to escape through the upper hole during the refilling process. For this purpose, pierce the upper hole (vent) with a needle without syringe. After approx. 5mm, you will feel a resistance. When you feel that, do not push the needle any further in.
Now pierce the lower filler opening with the syringe (see picture) until you feel the resistance after approx. 5mm. Slowly inject the ink into the chamber. At the same time, air should be escaping through the needle in the upper hole. Then extract the syringe and the needle from the cartridge. The cartridge is now refilled.
Please note:
You should never empty ink cartridges completely, but refill small amounts of ink from time to time. This way, the nozzle does not dry out and clog, and the sponge inside the cartridge remains malleable. After refilling cartridges with a sponge, always let them rest on an absorbent underlay for approx. 15 minutes. Never insert a dripping cartridge into the printer! Clean the print head of your cartridges with distilled water from time to time!
Disclaimer:
Neither the printer manufacturer nor we can be held liable for any damage caused by improper or incorrect refilling. The ink is soluble in water, i.e. the bottles can be washed out after use and disposed of in the recycling bin. Syringes and needles (with protective caps!) are non-recyclable waste. You are of course welcome to return the empty bottles and supplies to us.
Keep out of the reach of children! In appropriate storage, the ink can be stored for up to three years.
