To refill the cartridges, you need the following supplies:
- an absorbent underlay (e. g. paper towel)
- 1 syringe with needle
- black ink (up to 30ml)
- 1 cutter knife or putty knife
Prepare your workplace as follows:
Lay the paper towel on an ink repellent underlay (e. g. place mats). Then remove the cartridge from the printer and place it on the paper towel. Choose your workplace in a way that permanent staining with ink is impossible.
Take the cutter knife or putty knife and remove the label on the upper side of the cartridge as illustrated in picture 1. The label will be reused after refilling.
Refilling HP 336, HP 337, HP 338, HP 339 cartridges:
Insert the refill syringe with needle carefully into the cartridge. The resistance you feel is caused by the sponge inside the cartridge.
With the HP 336 cartridge, you can only use the front filler opening because the sponge is located at the front of the cartridge.
With HP 337, 338 cartridges, you can use the opening shown in picture 2.
With the big HP 339 cartridge, you can use the opening shown in picture 3.
If ink leaks from the filler opening, draw about 1 ml of ink back into the syringe.
After refilling:
Now glue the label back on. If it does not stick, you can fasten it with adhesive tape. Carefully clean the print head with a moist towel. Reinsert the cartridge into the printer and start the cleaning procedure.
Please observe the following general advice:
Never print until the cartridge is completely empty. It is better to fill in a little amount of ink once in a while to avoid the injectors drying out and plugging and maintain the sponge inside the cartridge supple. After refilling, let the cartridge with sponge rest on an absorbent underlay for approximately 15 minutes. Never insert a dripping cartridge into the printer! Clean the print head with distilled water at regular intervals.
