Remove the toner cartridge Kyocera TK-130, FS-1028, FS-1128, FS-1300, FS-1350 from your printer and place it on the table in front of you. As this cartridge is not equipped with a filler opening you need to prepare one. We recommend using a soldering iron for that. Melt a hole with a diameter of approx. 12mm into the cartridge (picture 2) at the point shown in picture 1. Deburr the hole thoroughly and make sure that no plastic splinter gets into the hole.
Before refilling the toner cartridge, you should pour out the rest of the toner powder or exhaust it with an aspirator for toner powders. Otherwise the physical and chemical characteristics of the old and the new toner powders could lead to a formation of clots.
Refilling Kyocera TK-130, FS-1028, FS-1128, FS-1300, FS-1350:
Take the toner bottle and screw the funnel on. It makes refilling easier. Carefully shake up the bottle and afterwards fill the powder into the cartridge (picture 3). After refilling the cartridge you need to seal it again. For that trim a piece of fabric adhesive tape into the right size and glue it onto the filler opening (picture 4). Attention: The filler opening has to be absolutely leak-free. Through patting it over a white piece of paper, you can check the impermeability. There should not trickle any toner out of the opening.
The original cartridges from Kyocera are in most cases equipped with a chip for 7.200 pages. There are also cartridges which are made to be remanufactured. These are made for 10.000 pages and not equipped with a chip. If your cartridge is equipped with a chip you should change it after refilling. The chip monitors the filling level of the cartridge. If you have printed the programmed pages the chip signals that the cartridge is empty. By changing the chip your printer recognises the cartridge as refilled.
Please refill toner powder every time so that the cartridge gets the entire page capacity. If you do it without refilling toner the printer recognises the cartridge as empty and the chip gets blocked. By this the chip gets useless. A chip can be used exactly one time. You can also continue printing without the chip monitoring the filling level. In that case you need to observe your printouts thoroughly and check if enough toner is left in the cartridge. When stripes appear on your printout or the quality does not meet your expactations it is a sign to refill the cartridge.
Safety instructions for the handling of refill toners
Refill toner and toner powder may cause serious health problems if not handled carefully. We recommend always using breathing protection or suction chambers while filling toner cartridges. Furthermore, toner powder and refill toner can be highly flammable with an appropriate oxygen mixture. Please note as well, that you should touch the photoconductor drum in no case or expose it to direct sunlight. This could lead to faulty print-outs. Octopus Office will not take any responsibility for success or failure of the described procedure.
