Remove the Samsung ML-1660, ML-1666, SCX-3200, SCX-3205 cartridge from your printer and place it on the table in front of you. Picture 1 shows the lateral cover of the cartridge. It is attached with the 3 marked welding spots. You need to cut off these spots to remove the cover. For this purpose, slip a cutter knife beneath the welding spots and cut them off carefully and evenly (picture 2).
Then you can remove the cover (picture 3). Put it aside; you need it after refilling the cartridge and replacing the chip. Now you can see the sealing plug (picture 4). You can remove it with small tongs or a putty knife. For this purpose, slip the putty knife beneath the plug and use it as lever.
Take a plastic bag and shake the cartridge so that the old powder trickles into the bag or aspirate it with a toner powder vacuum cleaner. Old toner and new toner have different physical and chemical characteristics, which could lead to clotting if they are mixed.
Refilling the cartridge Samsung ML-1660, ML-1666, SCX-3200, SCX-3205:
Screw the funnel onto the bottle with the new toner to facilitate refilling of the Samsung ML-1660, ML-1666, SCX-3200, SCX-3205 cartridges. Fill in the toner powder (picture 5). When you have refilled the cartridge, you can reinsert the sealing plug.
Attention:The filler opening has to be sealed tightly. Hold the cartridge over a white sheet of paper and tap it to check whether it is sealed. If toner powder trickles onto the paper, the opening is not sealed correctly. After refilling the cartridge, you need to replace the chip that monitors the filling level of the cartridge. You have to replace it with every refill.
Exchanging the chip for Samsung ML-1660, ML-1666, SCX-3200, SCX-3205 cartridges:
Take the lateral cover that you removed in the beginning and replace the chip (picture 6). It can be easily pulled out of the guide rail. Insert the replacement chip with the same orientation. After replacing the chip, the lateral cover should look as shown in picture 7.
Once the chip is replaced, your printer recognises the cartridge as full. Please refill toner powder as well to achieve the full printing capacity of the cartridge. Otherwise, the cartridge may not be reset due to lack of toner powder. In this case, the replacement chip does not work. The chip is useable once.
Assembling the Samsung ML-1660, ML-1666, SCX-3200, SCX-3205 cartridges:
After you have refilled the Samsung ML-1660, ML-1666, SCX-3200, SCX-3205 and replaced the chip, you can reassemble the cartridge. Everything should be assembled without force. To attach the cover firmly to the cartridge, use fabric adhesive tape (picture 8). The first pages printed after refilling might be of lower quality, because the toner powder needs to spread evenly inside the cartridge. Once it has, the cartridge should produce the same printing quality as before.
Safety instructions for the handling of refill toners
Refill toner and toner powder may cause serious health problems if not handled carefully. We recommend always using breathing protection or suction chambers while filling toner cartridges. Furthermore, toner powder and refill toner can be highly flammable with an appropriate oxygen mixture. Please note as well, that you should touch the photoconductor drum in no case or expose it to direct sunlight. This could lead to faulty print-outs.
